OU’s Yachad (National Jewish Council for Disabilities) Completes First Move-a-thon Inclusion Program

In the springtime beauty of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, young men and women, children and adults of all ages “moved around” in their sneakers, walkers, wheelchairs, bicycles, rollerblades and other means of locomotion while raising funds for a very good cause this past Sunday, April 25.

The Orthodox Union’s Yachad Move-A-Thon inclusion program enabled individuals with disabilities, alongside their non-handicapped peers, to “move around” Prospect Park in Brooklyn for a distance of up to three miles. In acknowledgement of the diversity of the participants, each person “moved” in his or her own manner.

Yachad, the flagship division of the OU’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), provides unique social, educational and recreational programs for individuals with learning, developmental and physical disabilities. All activities are “inclusive,” bringing children or adults with disabilities b’yachad, or together, with their non-disabled peers.

Following are pictures from the event.
