Rabbi Weinreb of the Orthodox Union Journeys to Chicago to Serve as Scholar-In-Residence

OU Executive Vice President Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb will serve as the Annual Ray Stein Scholar-in-Residence at Congregation Adas Yeshurun Anshe Kanesses Israel in Chicago. The theme of the weekend, which will take place from October 22-23, will be “The Jewish People in Issues and Solutions.”

Rabbi Weinreb, a talented teacher, writer and orator with a Ph.D. in psychology, will deliver three lectures during his visit. He will use his specific knowledge as a rabbi, psychologist and Jewish leader to explore issues facing Orthodox Jews today.

The topics include:

  • “The Three Greatest Problems in the Orthodox Jewish Community and What We Can Do About Them,” will be delivered on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m.;
  • “Priorities in Jewish Family Life as Viewed by a Rabbi, Psychologist and Communal Leader,” will be delivered on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.; and
  • “Cousins in Conflict: Some Sobering and Troubling Thoughts about Judaism and Islam,” will be delivered Saturday evening at 9:15 p.m.

Prior to his final speech on Saturday evening, the synagogue will host a melaveh malkah, a post-Sabbath celebration, which will begin at 8:30 p.m.

Reservations are required. For synagogue members, the cost is $14 per person and $18 for non-members. Sponsorships of the lectures are $50, $100 and $250.
