OU Pledges Continued Attention to Plight of Jewish Jobless, as Workshop for Job Seekers Draws Capacity Attendance

“The number one priority for the OU will be to help people in search of proper employment,” declared Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union today, at the third and final session of the OU’s Employment Workshops for Job Seekers.

The OU presented the seminars in conjunction with the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and Federation Employment and Guidance Services. As in the past two sessions, attendance was a standing room only 120.

Today’s session was devoted to “Winning Interview Techniques.” The previous two covered “The Complete Job Search” and “The Power of Positive Thinking.”

The employment workshops are part of a continuing series of OU initiatives devoted to strengthening the Jewish family. Programs also include “Positive Jewish Parenting” and “Positive Jewish Marriage Enrichment,” which have been presented both in New York and cities around the country. The OU’s annual West Coast Torah Convention, which concluded yesterday (Monday) in Los Angeles, had as its theme The Secret to Jewish Survival – The Jewish Family.

The Orthodox Union, now in its second century of service to the Jewish community of North America and beyond, is a world leader in community and synagogue services, adult education, youth work through NCSY, political action through the IPA, and advocacy for persons with disabilities through Yachad and Our Way. Its kosher supervision label, the , is the world’s most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on over 275,000 products manufactured in 68 countries around the globe.

Orthodox Union Executive Vice President Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb addresses the OU employment workshop. Joining him are Robin Sternberg, Project Coordinator for the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services (left), and Frank Buchweitz, OU Director of Special Projects.
