OU Taps Veteran Fundraiser to Direct Development Activities
Rabbi Roy I. Rosenbaum Appointed As New OU Director of Planning and
Development
With the appointment of Rabbi Roy I. Rosenbaum as the new Director of Planning and Development, the OU has added a highly experienced professional to its new management team, and stands prepared to move forward with new initiatives. Rabbi Rosenbaum, who comes to the OU from the American Friends of The Hebrew University, where he served as the Vice President for Development, will now oversee and direct all fundraising activities, as well as explore new planning possibilities.
"The OU is blessed with a new generation of professional and volunteer leadership who are committed to expanding opportunities for volunteer involvement," said Rabbi Rosenbaum. "This will have a dramatic effect in enhancing the human and financial resources so that we can concentrate on the challenges facing the Jewish community. The wide range of OU activities in the United States and around the world demands no less than the very best minds and hearts. The most important element in our planning is to now target these dedicated and committed men and women who have yet to find their niche within our organization."
Previously, Rabbi Rosenbaum served as the chief development professional for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the Jewish Theological Seminary. He began his communal career at the Jewish Federation in Cleveland, from where he went on to become the chief professional officer of the Jewish Federations of Richmond and St. Louis.
Rabbi Rosenbaum received his B.A. and M.A. in political science from the University of Chicago and received rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Theological College in Skokie, Illinois. He was a Ford Foundation Fellow for four years at the University of Chicago, specializing in political philosophy and comparative politics.
OU Finance and Development Chair Herbert Seif commented, "There are many people throughout the Orthodox community who admire and appreciate the work that the OU does but are unsure how to contribute to the efforts that they so respect. With our new, innovative and dynamic director of development at the helm, and an ever impressive professional staff, the OU will now be equipped to go out into the community and galvanize support for our many essential endeavors."
The
Orthodox Union, now in its second century of service to the Jewish
community of America and beyond, is a world leader in youth
work, advocacy for
persons with disabilities, synagogue
services, adult
education and political
action. Its kosher
supervision label, the
OU, is the world’s most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on
over 250,000 products in 68 countries around the globe.
