Time to Make the Donuts ~ Kosher!
Orthodox Union Hosts First Ever Baking Industry Seminar

Keeping kosher no longer has to mean sacrificing great desserts.  In fact, kosher consumers have become a much sought after market.  From 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday, June 20th the Orthodox Union will hold a seminar on the conflict between plant production and kosher concerns.  The event will take place at the new Orthodox Union Headquarters, 11 Broadway, New York.

The purpose of the seminar is to show those in the baking industry the advantages of becoming kosher as well as to provide suggestions and helpful information to those already following the strict dietary code.  The seminar  will feature:

  • Experts discussing how the OU can expedite the flow of information between its office and the bakery plant.

  • Experts exploring production systems to simplify kosher and kosher/dairy production concerns.

  • An opportunity for people to share their personal experiences with a panel of representatives from the baking industry.

  • Presentations by marketing professionals to help maximize the baking industry’s reach to the kosher consumer.

  • A tour of the OU headquarters to see how the system works.

Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld, Conference Coordinator, explains, “We think this seminar will have positive economic ramifications for those who attend.  In the baking business where new products are constantly entering the competitive arena and where new companies start up regularly, making your company available to the kosher consumer is a way to broaden your market and give you that necessary edge.”

The Orthodox Union, now in its second century of service to the Jewish community of America and beyond, is the world leader in youth work, advocacy for the disabled, synagogue services, adult education and political action.  Its kosher supervision label,  the OU Symbol, is the world’s most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on over 250,000 products in 68 countries around the globe.
