Baltimore Resident Honored
For Decades of Youth Work
Shimshon Wach of Baltimore was honored at the Orthodox Unions (OU) National
Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY) Ben Zakkai Honor Society Dinner in New York City.
Shimshon, who has been involved with NCSY since he was a teenager, was recognized for his
devotion to Jewish youth and NCSY.
"Through his deep commitment to the ideals of NCSY, Shimshon is building future
generations of Jews," said Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President of the OU. "His
staunch dedication to outreach has enabled many young people find spiritual meaning and
direction," Dr. Ganchrow added.
A computer programmer, Shimshon managed the NCSY basketball league in Baltimore and
worked as field director for the NCSY Atlantic Seaboard region. Presently, he serves as
NCSY Junior Chapter advisor for the city of Baltimore.
"Shimshons unique ability to relate to youth has enabled him to become a
true success in Jewish outreach," said Dr. Ganchrow.
NCSY is one of the most effective vehicles
for Jewish outreach and education worldwide. Found in 39 states, 3 Canadian provinces and
215 communities across the continent, NCSY annually reaches 40,000 high school-aged boys
and girls in North America, Israel and Europe with 600 major educational and social
events.
The Orthodox Union, celebrating 100 years of
service to the Jewish community of the United States and other countries, is a foremost
leader in youth work, advocacy for the disabled, synagogue services, adult education and
political action. Its kosher supervision label, the OU, is the world's most recognized
kosher symbol and can be found on over 200,000 products in 59 countries around the globe.
