Baltimore Resident Honored
For Decades of Youth Work

Shimshon Wach of Baltimore was honored at the Orthodox Union’s (OU) National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY) Ben Zakkai Honor Society Dinner in New York City. Shimshon, who has been involved with NCSY since he was a teenager, was recognized for his devotion to Jewish youth and NCSY.

"Through his deep commitment to the ideals of NCSY, Shimshon is building future generations of Jews," said Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President of the OU. "His staunch dedication to outreach has enabled many young people find spiritual meaning and direction," Dr. Ganchrow added.

A computer programmer, Shimshon managed the NCSY basketball league in Baltimore and worked as field director for the NCSY Atlantic Seaboard region. Presently, he serves as NCSY Junior Chapter advisor for the city of Baltimore.

"Shimshon’s unique ability to relate to youth has enabled him to become a true success in Jewish outreach," said Dr. Ganchrow.

NCSY is one of the most effective vehicles for Jewish outreach and education worldwide. Found in 39 states, 3 Canadian provinces and 215 communities across the continent, NCSY annually reaches 40,000 high school-aged boys and girls in North America, Israel and Europe with 600 major educational and social events.

The Orthodox Union, celebrating 100 years of service to the Jewish community of the United States and other countries, is a foremost leader in youth work, advocacy for the disabled, synagogue services, adult education and political action. Its kosher supervision label, the OU, is the world's most recognized kosher symbol and can be found on over 200,000 products in 59 countries around the globe.
