Great Neck Resident Honored For Decades of
Youth Work
Ellen Kalish of Great Neck, was honored at the Orthodox Unions (OU) National
Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY) Ben Zakkai Honor Society Dinner. Ellen, a school
psychologist who has been involved with NCSY since she was a teenager, was recognized for
her devotion to Jewish youth and NCSY.
"Through her deep commitment to the ideals of NCSY, Ellen is building future
generations of Jews," said Mandell I. Ganchrow, M.D., President of the OU. "Her
staunch dedication to outreach has enabled many young people find spiritual meaning and
direction," Dr. Ganchrow added.
Attesting to her dedication to Jewish youth, Ellen was honored with the NCSY Junior
Advisor of the Year Award in 1993 and the Senior Advisor of the Year Award in 1996. Ellen
was graduated from Stern College with a B.A. and Queens College with an M.S. in Education
and a certificate in School Psychology. Currently, she is the NCSY regional party planner
and regional advisor for both Junior and Senior NCSY in the Long Island region.
NCSY is one of the most effective vehicles
for Jewish outreach and education worldwide. Found in 39 states, 3 Canadian provinces and
215 communities across the continent, NCSY annually reaches 40,000 high school-aged boys
and girls in North America, Israel and Europe with 600 major educational and social
events.

leader in youth work, advocacy for the disabled, synagogue services, adult education and
