In accordance with the By-Laws of the Orthodox Union, the President, upon the request of the Board of Directors, has called a Special Meeting for the purpose of holding Elections for a new slate of Officers and Board members. The meeting will take place IY”H on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at The Sheraton New York Hotel located at 811 7th Ave in NYC (53rd Street).

As indicated, Dr. Simcha Katz has been re-nominated to serve as President. In addition, Mr. Harvey Blitz has been nominated for President by petition. In accordance with the By-Laws, other persons may be nominated, either for Officer or Director, by filing in writing with the Secretary of the Orthodox Union (by PDF to synagogue@ou.org, to the attention of Ms. Rina Emerson), on or before February 7, 2013, a nomination petition including the names and addresses of such other nominees signed by at least 20 Directors for Officer nominees, and by at least 10 Directors for Director nominees. The pdf must also include a written acceptance by the nominee. No nominations for Officers or Directors shall be made or acted upon at the Special Meeting, except as above set forth.
With regard to this notice of an upcoming Special Meeting of the OU, only members in good standing as to payment of dues to the OU will be entitled to send delegates to the Special Meeting. On the evening of March 10, 2013, at the same location, the NCSY Ben Zakkai Honor Society will be holding its annual dinner. Formal invitations will be forthcoming. We hope that you will be able to participate in that exciting event as well.
