THE OU's JOB BOARD URGES CANDIDATES TO REGISTER NOW FOR FIRST ANNUAL (VIRTUAL) JOB FAIR, JUNE 5; OU WEBSITE LISTS 1600 ACTIVE JOB SEARCHES
In anticipation of the upcoming First Annual (Virtual) Job Fair, to take place Tuesday, June 5 at Orthodox Union Headquarters in New York, the OU Job Board, a new national program for those seeking to change jobs and for the unemployed, urges applicants to submit their resumés and to register for the Fair now.
Applicants can post their resumes on the Job Board's comprehensive website, http://www.ou.org/jobs/ou, which has over 1,600 active job listings throughout the country. The national Job Board and its New York component have already placed over 635 job seekers.
"Preparing for the OU's Job Fair has yielded unexpected results," declared Michael Rosner, Job Board Director. "We were pleasantly surprised by the reaction to our recent initiative in which applicants can post their resumés online, that are in turn made available to prospective employers. To date we have several hundred resumés posted."
"Indications are that our upcoming Job Fair will be closed out sooner than expected. We are therefore urging immediate registration and resumé submission," he said.
The Job Fair, presented free of charge to both job seekers and employers, will provide major companies with high-tech access to potential candidates by means of a Live-Virtual-Video Interview.
"In this procedure, HR personnel through video-conferencing will interview applicants from the convenience of their own offices, avoiding the expense, time and effort of traveling and setting up a booth; applicants, meanwhile, will be in an assigned booth in a comfortable setting, taking the interview," declared Mr. Rosner.
Prior to the interviews, preparatory workshops will be held. They are as follows:
• 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Effective Job Search Strategy and Networking: The Keys to the Hidden Job Market, sponsored by FEGS Health and Human Services System;
• 11:15 a.m. -12:00 noon, Workshop on Medical Pathways, presented by the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty for those interested in entering the medical field in positions such as nursing, technicians, ER responders, among others.
To participate in the workshops, applicants must access the OU Job Board website, http://www.ou.org/jobs/ou and click on the Job Fair workshops link. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
In addition to the preparatory workshops, the OU Job Fair schedule (subject to change) is as follows:
• 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Interviews for teachers, rabbis, school staff, IT specialists and technicians, web designers, doctors, dentists, social workers, nurses, OT/PT, among others.
• 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Interviews for accountants, bookkeepers, sales people, service people, case workers, administrative assistants/receptionists, senior quality assurance specialist, data entry, maintenance, directors/assistant directors of not-for-profit organizations.
Employers interested in participating are encouraged to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting an application.
