Allentown is a thriving Modern Orthodox community, centered around Congregation Sons of Israel and its 220 member families. Our welcoming community participates in successful educational programming, including Daf Yomi and social programs, and reaches out to the greater Jewish population; our Jewish Day School (PK-8), Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family Services work in close tandem. We have a new mikveh and a well-maintained eruv. The Lehigh Valley Kashrut Commission supervises several kosher establishments, including two supermarket bakeries. Our local colleges have 1,300 Jewish students, adding to the youth of our community. We are located near both New York City and Philadelphia, with all that they offer. The Community Kollel of Dallas, sponsored by Yeshiva University, provides educational, experiential and social opportunities.
