Martin Luther King Day

"Martin Luther King Day is a significant occasion for the Jewish community, as much as for all other Americans. Rev. King was an important voice for liberty, for democracy and for the values of our common Biblical heritage.

"His message echoed much of the teachings of our religion and indeed, he quoted liberally from our sacred sources. His tragic death is mourned by all decent human beings. The attached document, developed for Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life by Rabbi Avi Weinstein, is evidence of the consistency between his words and our historical texts."
