OU Synagogue Queens Jewish Center to Celebrate 70th Anniversary, June 16

FLAGSHIP OU MEMBER SHUL QUEENS JEWISH CENTER TO CELEBRATE 70TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER HONORING PAST PRESIDENTS, JUNE 16

The Queens Jewish Center, a flagship Orthodox Union member synagogue, will celebrate its 70th Anniversary as it honors past presidents at its Annual Dinner, to take place on Sunday, June 16. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Congregation Kneseth Israel (White Shul), 728 Empire Avenue in Far Rockaway.

Rabbi Benjamin Geiger serves as Morah D’atra of the Queens Jewish Center and is a Rabbinical Coordinator for OU Kosher.

Including current president Jack Nussbaum, 28 synagogue leaders have served over the years, many of whom additionally served in lay leadership roles within the Orthodox Union: Allen Fagin of Manhattan (QJC President from 1986-89) currently serves as OU Senior Vice President and Chairman of the OU’s Youth Commission; Dr. Bernard Lander z”l (QJC President from 1950-52, 1958-60), served many years on the OU Board of Directors and worked closely with the OU on various projects; and Harold Boxer z”l (QJC President in 1948), was a force behind creating NCSY (the OU’s international youth movement) as a continent-wide youth movement.

Additional Guests of Honor include David Fund; Fred and Ann Frenkel; Rabbi J. Simcha and Shoshana Cohen; Andrew and Diana Reinhard; Leon and Alice Wildes; Sheldon and Carol Borgen; Hyam and Carol Reichel; Robert and Tania Materman; Steven and Bina Lerner; Nathan and Tami Braun; and Franklyn and Rosalyn Snitow. The Young Leadership Award will also be presented to Stacey Levine.
