OU’s Rabbi Weil to be Miami Beach Scholar-in-Residence, 1/11-12

RABBI STEVEN WEIL, OU EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, TO RETURN TO MIAMI BEACH AS SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE AS BETH ISRAEL CONGREGATION, JANUARY 11-12

Orthodox Union Executive Vice President Rabbi Steven Weil will return to Miami Beach to serve as Scholar–in-Residence at Beth Israel Congregation, for Shabbat Friday, January 11-Saturday, January 12 (Parshat Va’eira.) Rabbi Weil is a regular visitor to South Florida.

The OU member synagogue is located in Miami Beach, 770 W 40th Street.

On Friday night, Rabbi Weil will speak at an oneg on “The Defining Issues That Will Shape 21st Century American Jewry.” He will present the Shabbat morning drasha on “Don’t Jew Me.” Shabbat afternoon, Rabbi Weil will present a workshop on “The Evolution of the World’s Greatest Leader.” Rabbi Weil will also speak during seudat shlishit on “The World’s First BDS Movement.”

Rabbi Donald Bixon, Rabbi of Beth Israel Congregation, stated, “Beth Israel Congregation is excited to once again welcome Rabbi Weil to our congregation and community. His presentations are welcomed perspective on the current status of Orthodoxy in the United States. Rabbi Weil’s yearly visits help our community feel closer to the OU.”
