07 Jul 2009

The OU West Coast Region celebrated two 40th anniversaries at its Annual Awards Banquet, held in late June at the Sephardic Temple in Beverly Hills: the anniversary of the Region and of West Coast NCSY.

Rabbi Steven Weil was present in two capacities: as outgoing Senior Rabbi of Congregation Beth Jacob in Beverly Hills and as the new Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union. He officially assumed his position on July 1. Beth Jacob was also honored at the banquet.

Rabbi Alan Kalinsky, Director of the OU West Coast Region, declared, “This year’s dinner not only celebrated the 40th anniversary of the OU/NCSY West Coast Region. It also celebrated my 24th year of organizing this annual event saluting and honoring the lay leaders of the Region for all their support. This commitment has enabled our organization to do all the extraordinary things we are privileged to do day in and day out.”
