OU Singles Connections To Present Two Events, June 16 and June 26

05 Jun 2008

As the year winds down and the summer begins, the Orthodox Union’s Singles Connections, a project of the Department of Community Services, will present two singles events that mark the transition, Monday, June 16 and Thursday, June 26. The Department has presented singles events throughout the year – sometimes offering stimulating lectures on topical issues, sometimes providing entertainment such as comedy shows or ice-skating, but always presenting the opportunity to mingle with like-minded Jewish singles in a comfortable setting.

The June 16 event, part of the “Dining Series,” for singles ages 35-50, will consist of a buffet dinner at Mendy’s Galleria, 115 East 57 Street, 6:30 pm. An after-dinner discussion, How to Successfully Invest in Volatile Times, will feature David Goldwasser, CLU, CHFC, and Scott Menta, CLU, CHFC, CFP, Metlife Securities Inc. The cost of the event is $30 in advance, $36 at the door.

Frank Buchweitz, National Director of Community Services and Special Projects, declared, “Investment education in these uncertain economic times is extremely important. This program not only provides a chance to learn and discuss potential investment strategies, but also offers the opportunity to meet and mingle.”

The June 26 “Summerfest” event, for singles in their 20’s and 30’s, will be a dinner and comedy show featuring actor/singer/comedian Stuart Rappaport, the 2005 Jewish Week Comedian of the Year. It will take place in Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun, 125 East 85 Street. The cost of the event is $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Frank Buchweitz declared, “This event is really a great opportunity for young people to get together in a completely relaxed setting. We have a vibrant, young comedian to highlight what promises to be a most enjoyable evening. Those who tend to shy away from singles programs in general should be aware that this is the opportunity for a fun evening without pressure – just enjoy as we welcome summer!”
