OU Our Way Baltimore Event With Rabbi Shuchatowitz On Halacha And Deafness, 10/30

Our Way, the Orthodox Union’s division for Jewish deaf and hard of hearing, will host a special presentation by Rabbi Mordechai Shuchatowitz, Rav of Agudath Israel of Greenspring and Av Dayan of the Bais Din of Maryland, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 addressing topics in Jewish law for parents of deaf children and all others affected by hearing loss. The event is co-sponsored in conjunction with Baltimore’s Center for Jewish Education and The Associated: The Jewish Federation of Baltimore.

The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Weinberg Park Heights JCC Community Room. Rabbi Shuchatowitz will be discussing topics in Jewish law pertaining to hearing aids and cochlear implants, fulfillment of hearing and speech-related mitzvot, use of hearing aids on Shabbat and Jewish holidays, and his book on Jewish law for the deaf “Toras HaCheresh, Part Two.” The program is coordinated by Our Way Director Rabbi Eliezer Lederfeind and Rachel Delman Turniansky, Coordinator of Special Needs Programs at The Louise D. and Morton J.
