OU KOSHER CEO RABBI GENACK TO BE HONORED OCTOBER 26 BY THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL ON JEWISH POVERTY AT KOSHERFEST 2010

Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher, will be honored with the Rabbinic Leadership Award by the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty on Tuesday, October 26, the opening day of Kosherfest 2010.

The award, given for invaluable service and ongoing commitment to the Jewish community, will be presented to Rabbi Genack by Paul Bensabat, Co-Owner and President of Saveur Food Group, and Menachem Lubinsky, President and CEO of Lubicom Marketing Consulting.

Met Council has been the official charity of Kosherfest for the last seven years. It distributes more than 15,000 pounds of leftover kosher food from exhibitors (including specialty items, such as kosher frozen meat and poultry, gourmet chocolate and Israeli snack foods) each year to community food pantries in areas with high Jewish need.

Declared William Rapfogel, CEO of Met Council, “Rabbi Genack is an extraordinary rabbinic leader, who profoundly impacts the lives of nearly everyone who eats kosher food. His devotion to ‘acts of charity and deeds of kindness’ is without equal.”

Rabbi Genack said, “The work that Met Council does in feeding the Jewish poor, including following Kosherfest, is truly a blessing to our community. I am most honored to receive this award.”

Kosherfest is an annual two-day trade show dedicated to exhibiting the best kosher food and beverages distributed in the country. This year’s Kosherfest will be held on October 26-27, in the Meadowlands Exhibition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.
