OU Job Board to Hold Free Jewish Community Service Expo in NYC, April 26

31 Mar 2009

The OU Job Board will hold a FREE Jewish Community Service Expo on Sunday, April 26, from 12:00-4:00 pm at Lander College for Women in Manhattan. The school is located at 227 West 60th Street, at West End Avenue.

The fair will consist of various communal organizations distributing information about their services and programs, and offer two special, ongoing events: “Expert Resume Check,” for the employed, unemployed, professionals and students, which will allow attendees to have experts fine-tuning current resumes to make them presentable to the marketplace; and various workshops featuring experts in the fields of employment and career motivation offering empowerment and career tips to attendees throughout the afternoon.

Michael Rosner, Director of the OU Job Board, declared, “I see this as the crucial event during these trying economic times, and maybe the most important thing that can be done for the Jewish community right now. So many people are not aware of the services available to them, and this fair will go a long way towards disseminating information.”

Far from being only for the unemployed, the fair is also geared towards those who are employed, professionals, and students.

“Every organization that will be present at the fair offers services not only for the unemployed, but for people looking to enhance their knowledge of all types of services available, education programs to retool their skills, interest-free loans, and more,” continued Mr. Rosner.

Among the 35 organizations and communal councils that will attend are: Yachad, an agency of the OU that provides educational and social inclusion programs for children and adults with disabilities; The Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush (COJO); Ohel Bais Ezra; Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, Inc. (JBFCS); and the Met Council.
