OU JOB BOARD AND BMCC PRESENT THE OU JOB BOARD “COLLEGE” TO PREPARE JOB SEEKERS FOR SATISFYING CAREERS

The Orthodox Union Job Board, in conjunction with Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) have combined efforts to create the OU Job Board “College” to help individuals advance their skills to enter or move up in the workplace. Job seekers now have the opportunity to learn the need-to-know software required in today’s marketplace.

“The program is all about preparing New Yorkers for reentry into the workplace as quickly as possible and in the best ways. Both organizations are committed to building skills for an effective job search,” declared L. Patrick Dail, Director of Continuing Education and Training at BMCC. “Our combined mission brought us together to prepare workers for satisfying careers.”

The classes will be held at the BMCC location in lower Manhattan at 25 Broadway, where separate lab classes are being provided exclusively to the OU Job Board. The new computer lab provides participants with their own computer fully downloaded with the software of their choice.

The schedule is as follows:

• Monday: Quickbooks for Beginners, (April 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and June 7), from 1:30 to 3:00 pm or 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Learn the most used and requested accounting software.

• Tuesday: Photoshop, (April 27, May 4, 11, 25 and June 1, 8), from 1:30 to 3:00pm. Learn the most requested graphic software;
Microsoft Word and Outlook, (April 27, April 27, May 4, 11, 25 and June 1, 8), from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Learn the most required office software.

• Wednesday: Microsoft Excel for Beginners, (April 28, May 5, 12, 26 and June 2, 9), from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Learn the most required spread sheet software;

Web Development for Beginners, (April 28, May 5, 12, 26 and June 2, 9), from 3:30 to 5:00. Learn the tools for the “hottest” jobs.

• Thursday: Microsoft PowerPoint, (April 29, May 6, 13, 27 and June 3, 10), from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Learn the most requested presentation software; Microsoft Access, (April 29, May 6, 13, 27 and June 3, 10), from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Learn one of the most used spreadsheet and information software.

Registration is $72 for each software application, which covers all six classes (about 10 hours of instruction). A discount is available to anyone who registers for three or more different classes. Classes are limited in size and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
