OU ISRAEL CENTER, ARUTZ SHEVA, TO COMBINE ON WEBCAST ISRAEL ELECTION NIGHT, JANUARY 22, TO KEEP ENGLISH-SPEAKING AUDIENCES INFORMED

Rabbi Avi Berman, Executive Director of OU Israel, will anchor the Israeli Election Night program.

Live from Jerusalem, it’s Election Night!

The day after the American presidential inauguration, the attention of the world’s Jewish population turns to the voting in Israel coming up on Tuesday, January 22, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces strong opposition in his bid to put together a winning coalition. As a service to English-speaking Jews (and non-Jews) everywhere, the Seymour J. Abrams OU Jerusalem World Center in Jerusalem will present a webcast jointly with Arutz Sheva, Israel National News, live from the Israel Center.

The webcast will appear both on www.ou.org and www.israelnationalnews.com. It will air from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. Israel time, which is 2 p.m. -7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Rabbi Avi Berman, Executive Director of OU Israel, will anchor the program.

“I want to emphasize that neither the OU nor Arutz Sheva will be taking any political positions during the webcast,” Rabbi Berman declared. “This program will be strictly for information purposes, in which we will bring on experts to offer their opinions on voting trends and on the possible outcome, which includes the forming of the governing coalition, a process which can take weeks.”

“The purpose of this program is not to endorse any candidate or party,” Rabbi Berman continued. “It is to provide a window for English-speaking Jewry and others worldwide to gain the knowledge of the election process and results in Israel, given the enormous importance the voting carries for Israel and for all Jews in the years to come.”
