OU Announces Four Singles Events in Manhattan and Queens: May 24, May 25, June 15, and June 21

Once again this year, as it has for over a decade, the Orthodox Union Singles Connection will present exciting educational, social and recreational events that cater to a large spectrum of ages and interests.

Upcoming events include:

Wednesday, May 24, 7:15 p.m. – Manhattan

Dinner Series with a Chinese buffet and after-dinner program, Making the “Write” Choice — Handwriting Analysis, with Dr. Ari Korenblit. It will be held at the Eden Wok Restaurant, 127 West 72 Street, Manhattan, for ages 30-40.

Thursday, May 25, 8:00 p.m. – Queens

A pre-Shavuot Shiur, Insights into Kabalat HaTorah, with Rabbi Mordechai Willig, Rosh Yeshiva, REITS.

It will take place at Young Israel of Holliswood, Queens, 86-25 Francis Lewis Blvd.

Rabbi Willig is the Rabbi Dr. Sol Roth Professor of Talmud and Contemporary Halachah at Yeshiva University’s RIETS Seminary. He has been a Rosh Yeshiva at the Mazer School of Talmudic Studies at YU since 1973 and a Rosh Kollel at RIETS.

Rabbi Willig received a B.A. in mathematics from Yeshiva College in 1968 and an M.S. in Jewish history in 1971 from the Bernard Revel Graduate School. He received semicha that same year. He has served as spiritual leader of Young Israel of Riverdale in the Bronx since 1974 and has written a book, Am Mordechai, and many articles in Torah scholarship journals.

Admission is $5 at the door. Light refreshments will be served.

Thursday, June 15, 7:00 p.m. – Manhattan

Introduction to the Art of Hypnosis N.L.P. and Biofeedback with Selwyn Mirkin, Ph.D. It will be held at Congregation Ohav Sholom, 270 West 84 Street, Manhattan.

Dr. Mirkin holds a Ph.D in psychology and has completed post-graduate training in hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming and biofeedback with a major specialty in clinical hypnosis. A certified biofeedback and hypnosis specialist, with clients both in the United States and abroad, he has lectured widely and is in the midst of writing a book on the subject.

Admission is $10 at the door. Light refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, June 21, 7:00 p.m. – Manhattan

OU Young Leadership Annual Rooftop Barbeque to welcome the summer. It will be held at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun, 125 East 85 Street, Manhattan, for ages 20-30.

The musical group Rimonim, a five piece band, will be singing and playing the best in classic rock, pop and soul Jewish music.
