OU to Offer Red Cross Disaster Training, June 25, to Synagogue Leaders

June 12, 2008

“Our communal leaders need to be prepared for any and all situations,” declared Rabbi Bini Maryles, Director of Synagogue Services. “Of course we want them prepared to assist in a crisis for our core constituency, but this is an opportunity to have our leaders participate at the larger communal level. It is a significant way for our community to have a role when all are in need. To take positions of leadership in times of crisis engenders positive relationships to the broader community.”

Advance registration for the seminar is required. To register, contact Rabbi Jack Abramowitz, Assistant Director of Synagogue Services, at jacka@ou.org.

The training seminar will also be available to be presented in synagogues, with a suggested minimum of 15 participants. Shuls interested in offering the course should contact the American Red Cross in Greater New York at 877-REDCROSS, ext. 2284, or visit http://www.nyredcross.org.
