Two teams competing in last year’s New York NCSY basketball tournament.

New York NCSY will hold its Sixth Annual Community-Wide Basketball Tournament on Sunday, April 29. Tournament games for 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 teams will begin at 9 a.m. at various gyms around the Five Towns, including Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns & Rockaway (HAFTR), Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls (SKA), Davis Renov Stahler Yeshiva High School for Boys (DRS), Rambam, Life Fitness, and Lawrence High School. After completing the games, the players will come together for a pizza lunch sponsored by Shula’s Pizza and the beginning of the Sweet Sixteen round at Lawrence High School.

NCSY is the international youth movement of the Orthodox Union.

Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone, Regional Director of New York NCSY, said, “The purpose of the tournament is to build awareness and community support for the work that we do.” Funds raised from the tournament will support NCSY community programming and will provide scholarships to teens who wish to study in Israel post-high school and attend NCSY summer programs.

This year’s tournament will be highly competitive with more than 1,000 participants from ages 16 and up in the New York and New Jersey area. From 3:00-6:00 p.m., there will be entertainment for children and a BBQ available for purchase catered by Season’s of the Five Towns at Lawrence High School.

In addition to sponsorship opportunities available in support of the event, the tournament will hold its annual tournament raffle, whose winners will receive two roundtrip tickets to Israel donated by El Al Airlines.
