Chaim Silver - Rabbi

Young Israel of Phoenix serves the Valley of the Sun. Founded in 1993, the Shul was conceived with the goals of education and community. Jewish survival and personal fulfillment in today's world depends on an ongoing commitment to Torah oriented Jewish education. This is accomplished in Young Israel of Phoenix by daily, ongoing, Jewish experience with a spirit of learning that permeates our lives.

Young Israel of Phoenix uses the ArtScroll Siddur and Chumash which make our services occasions for learning as well as prayer. We offer programs and classes that make studying our Torah and traditions accessible and enjoyable. However, our educational approach is not just for the learned Orthodox. We have many members at all levels of Jewish knowledge and practice. WE EMPHASIZE THAT WE WELCOME NEWCOMERS WHO WISH TO LEARN MORE ABOUT TRADITIONAL JUDAISM.

Community, our second key goal, is most important in these times when local neighborhoods, in the old sense, have all but disappeared. We are proud that our membership sees the Shul as a place where friendships are made, meaningful group activities occur, and as a warm refuge from the turbulence of secular life.
