Introduction

Welcome to Orthodox Synagogue Network - a free community service sponsored by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America and its member congregations.

We hope you will take the time to visit the congregations on this networks and learn more about our community and about ourselves.

The aim of this project is to use this new technology L'harbitz Torah U'leha'adira - to spread Torah knowledge and observance and make it more accessible to the individual no matter where they may reside.

Currently, we have over 250 shuls on the synagogue network from Mexico City, Mexico to Cape Town, South Africa, from Omaha, Nebraska to Yerushalayim. Our sister project, The Torah Education Network is just getting started and already has over 50 schools listed.

Invitation

As an Orthodox synagogue or Torah school administrator or board member, or as an interested congregant or parent, we encourage you to look into the creation of a web page or site for your congregation, school or camp. You may do so independently (and just give us the address to link into) or you can ask us to help create one with you.

Basic pages and listings are available free of charge to all who qualify (see below).

OU member congregations are noted on the network pages by a small red OU symbol and are encouraged to be in touch with us so we can work together to develop a dynamic internet presence designed exclusively with your needs in mind..

Eligibility

All Orthodox shuls and Torah institutions of learning that meet the Halachic standards of the Orthodox Union are eligible to register for a free listing on these networks.

Just fill out the form with the requested information and an OU Synagogue Services representative will be in touch with you as soon as possible, usually within 24-48 hours.

If you already have a site - just e-mail the URL to us and we will be glad to add you within that same time frame if you qualify.

Basic websites for OU member congregations are now a part of membership privileges. Group rate hosting, design options, e-mail and chat are also available to member shuls.

If you are sending e-mail - please indicate your name, your synagogue's name and location, and your position within the congregation (Rabbi, President, Lay Leader).

All requests are subject to review by an OU standards committee before approval - this service is available to Orthodox congregations only.

Review and Approval

The Information Superhighway by its nature invites individuals from varied and diverse cultures, standards, principles and opinions. As a site administrator the OU reserves the right to accept or reject any submission to its Networks. The review and approval process is designed for the protection of the site and the public for which it is designed. Typically, the OU internet administrators will only reject submissions that do not meet the religious standards of the Torah observant Jewish community. Specific content will only be reviewed for inappropriate links or vulgarity, not for the opinions or sentiments expressed. A senior OU synagogue services administrator will contact you should there be such an unexpected problem with your submission.

Upgrade

Should you decide at any time that you desire to upgrade your listing or page. Please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Submission/Reaction/Comments

OU.ORG is being designed to be a cyber home for Torah Judaism. In order to achieve that lofty goal we have created the world's largest database of Torah teachings and offerings. To this end we extend an invitation to rabbanim, mechanchim and communal leaders to submit their ideas, reactions and comments about this exciting new service.

It is our hope and prayer that we all live up to the potential of this miraculous new communications medium and use it properly Lichvod HaTorah U'Lichvod HaMakom.

May we all merit the rebuilding of Yerushalayim in our lifetime - Bimheira Beyameinu.
