The site is divided into two user-friendly categories: "commercial information" which contains a host of features designed specially for those in the food production industry and "consumer information" which offers the general public a comprehensive look at kosher. "The overwhelming public response to kosher products has revolutionized the food industry," said Rabbi Menachem Genack, Rabbinic Administrator of the OUs Kosher Division. "With this enhanced kosher web page, companies and individuals across the country and around the world can access all of the latest information on kosher products and the OU certification program." When corporate and manufacturing professionals log on to the page, they can learn the answers to their questions on a variety of topics including the definition of the word "kosher," the details of kosher supervision and the process of becoming OU certified. With the click of a mouse, they can view the most up-to-date list of newly certified companies or even apply for OU kosher certification online. People who simply want to learn more about what makes products kosher, as well as those who are looking to delve more deeply into the biblical and rabbinic sources on keeping kosher, will find that the new page offers a wealth of information at their fingertips. Kosher alerts keep the public apprised of any changes to a products certification status Daf Hakashruth, an online newsletter, offers articles on the laws of kosher observance; "Ask the Rebbe" allows visitors to have their kosher queries answered by the OUs team of expert rabbis; and "The Kosher Video," an educational and entertaining video that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the kosher certification process, can be viewed (in-part) or ordered on the site.
