Ben Yehuda Vendor Fairs - Dos and Don'ts
Separator Graphic

Many communities have brought over Israeli vendors to sell their wares at community fairs here in the U.S. with GREAT success for all involved. If you are interested in or currently organizing a fair or would like to help a vendor, contact these coordinators to guide you and register new fairs and vendors. Read these suggestions to help ensure that we accomplish what we originally intended: to help as many of our brothers in Israel as much as possible.

National coordinators:
Coalition for Jewish Concerns-AMCHA- New York: 718-796-4730 (non-profit)
Meredith Weiss: mw812@aol.com

BEN YEHUDA MALL COMES TO AMERICA - Colorado: 303-861-2779
Dvora Nili: dvornili@zahav.net.il

Community members who have run fairs:
Ilene Vanh, Rockville, MD: Ilene.vanh@aol.com
Suzanne Weilgus, Monsey, NY: sweilgus@aol.com
Sandy Nissel Horowitz: nhlawsnhpa@aol.com
Lauren Perlman: midwestmidrechov@aol.com

DO:

  • Register your fair with national coordinators. A registry of upcoming fairs will help coordinators place vendors at multiple shows during their trip to the U.S. and track vendor attendance.
Or, contact us and we will forward your information to all parties involved: herzogt@ou.org or 212-613-8399.

  • Use donated frequent flyer miles to bring over vendors (AMCHA is a non-profit).

  • Contact national coordinators to organize/see when a fair will be in your neighborhood. Offer to help publicize the fair, host a vendor, volunteer at a fair, etc.

  • Give preference to new vendors as an organizer: Question national fair coordinators to see how frequently prospective vendors have come and to ensure their honesty.

DON’T:

  • Do not tolerate vendors who charge excessive commissions to bring other Israeli vendors’ products to these shows or have you sign exclusivity clauses to keep other vendors out. Check with AMCHA and BYMCTA.

  • Do not pay unnecessary or excessive overhead. (AMCHA does not charge any fees to vendors or fair organizers)

  • Do not host vendors who sell products that are not made in Israel, unless you agreed to that in advance.

  • Don’t just sell! Include an Israel Activism Table! Call 212 613 8399.
