September 2002
Dear Friends,
As we enter the New Year, 5763, we look forward to a better future –
one built on true peace and security. In these Holy Days, we also
pause to reflect on the events of the year that has passed.
Over the course of the year, the State of Israel and the Jewish people
have faced many challenges. Terrorism and anti-Semitism have
threatened the safety of our communities and economic hardship has
severely affected our lives. Yet, as a nation, we remain strong,
robust, and determined.
We stand together – united in our heritage and common destiny – to
defeat the terror that aims to destroy our democratic freedoms and
values. We will succeed and achieve our goals of peace and prosperity
for all in the region.
Although our economy has suffered much, it is rightfully recognized
internationally as technologically advanced and intrinsically healthy.
Israel is a resilient nation and if we all stand together, we will
surely begin seeing signs of growth in the near future.
As I begin my tenure as the Ambassador of Israel to the United States,
I am grateful for the support and the solidarity that you have
expressed. I count on the Jewish community to continue playing a vital
role in bringing Israel’s message to the American people.
With best wishes for health, happiness and a Shanah Tova,
