Because Cows Have Four Stomachs, You Know

By Rabbi Jack Abramowitz

Since the Tribe of Levi has no portion of land in Israel - their portion being the service of God - the kohanim receive specific parts of certain sacrifices, plus the various gifts referred to as terumah. From cattle, sheep and goats, they get the right foreleg, the jaw and a specific stomach (the abomasum). They get a portion of grain, wine, oil and sheep's wool. This is because of the work God has chosen them to perform on behalf of the nation.
