Rabbi Asher Brander.

Rabbi Asher Brander has served as Rabbi for Westwood Kehilla since 1994. Rabbi Asher Brander grew up in Kew Gardens Hills, attending Chofetz Chaim, Shaalvim in Israel, and Yeshiva University, where he received his B.A. in Computer Science in 1989.

Rabbi Brander learned in the Gruss Kollel, receiving rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, son-in-law of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach. Rabbi Brander completed his training for smicha under Rabbi Nachum Sauer, Rosh Kollel of Yeshiva of Los Angeles (YOLA), receiving ordination from Rabbi Sauer and Yeshiva University in 1991. At the same time, he taught high school at YULA, adult classes at YOLA, and completed an M.A. in Jewish Secondary Education from Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate Institute through the Block Fellowship.

 

Rabbi Brander and his wife, Batyah, live in Westwood with their three children.
