Rabbi Jonathan Gross

Rabbi Jonathan Gross serves as Rabbi of Beth Israel Synagogue in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey and after graduating high school from the Frisch School in Paramus, he studied Torah for two years at Yeshivat Beit Miedrash L’Torah (BMT) in Jerusalem. Upon his return to the U.S., Rabbi Gross earned a BA in mathematics in 2001 from Yeshiva University. While completing his undergraduate degree and while working for his Semicha in REITS, he was a participant in YU’s Sephardic Studies Program and studied under Rabbi Eliyahu Ben-Haim from 1999 - 2003. From 1998 - 2003, Rabbi Gross also held his first pulpit, serving as assistant Rabbi to his grandfather, Rabbi Joseph Maza, in Manalapan, New Jersey. After his grandfather’s death in 2001, Rabbi Gross took over as head Rabbi until 2003. For his fourth year rabbinic internship, Rabbi Gross assisted Rabbi Steven Weil at Beth Jacob Congregation in Beverly Hills, California. Upon earning his Semicha in 2004, Rabbi Gross took his current pulpit in Omaha. Rabbi Gross enjoys learning Torah, performing the trumpet and playing basketball.
