Struggle for Prayer
Rachel Sofer

I can’t daven. I’ve tried- I mean really tried- not just the shutting my eyes tightly and swayed type of tried. I’ve tried charts, incentives and threats. The Hebrew word emuna, usually translated as “faith,” in fact means “faithfulness, fidelity,” the virtue born and sustained within the home.

Getting Married on Shivah Asar BeTammuz
Rav Joseph B. Soloveitchik (adapted from lectures)

Fast days, excluding Yom Kippur and Tisha B’Av, begin in the morning. Does that mean we can enjoy ourselves the night before?

A Nation’s Loss
Rabbi Eliyahu Safran

A young man, returning to his studies after being called home following the death of his father said, “The buildings were all in their familiar places, but it was a wholly different place… for the world had changed.” ... Is there any calamity which a nation suffers that so alters its fundamental nature as to be truly analogous to the existential crisis death brings to an individual?
