IPA director Nathan Diament has an Op-ed published to today's NY Sun discussing the views of the two presidential candidates on religious liberty. Find it here.

The IPA released a statement today, expressing disappointment with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, for ruling that a condominium association or landlord does not need to accommodate an Orthodox Jewish tenant’s need to affix a mezuzah to his/her doorpost, as required by Jewish law. From the Campaign Trail

The venerable "Beliefs" columnist Peter Steinfels, presented an accurate analysis of Barack Obama's proposals to continue, but modify, the "faith-based initiative" in last Saturday's NY Times.

A recently released Gallup poll shows that Jews who say that religion is an important of their lives, are more likely to support Senator John McCain, then Jews for who religion does not have the same level of importance. According to the poll, observant Jews are split down the middle between Senators McCain and Obama, while among non-obersvant Jews, Senator Obama is favored by more then 2:1.

A senior Hamas leader said Thursday his Palestinian militant group will hold to a three-week-old cease-fire with Israel and pledged to stop violators. Read the full story here.
