Position Responsibilities - Summary

The IT Investment Systems Team is responsible for the development and support of trading and investment control applications and environments. The team consists of approximately 50 technology professionals whose key functions include Application Development and Maintenance, System Integration, Application Support and Production Support.

Overview:

Reporting to the Head of Investment Systems, the Application Development Manager will oversee application support activities for a sub section of Investment Systems applications. These applications include; Trading Systems (CRD / XIP / Predator), Compliance, and a number of proprietary and vendor applications that support the firm’s asset management and investment control processes.

Functionally, this organization will perform development and maintenance functions as required for these applications. This position will also serve as the primary point of contact with business users in the Fixed Income, International Active and Compliance areas. This position will also interface with the Emerging Markets business group in support of the XIP Trading platform. This position also works closely with other development teams and the Investment Systems Support group to facilitate testing and coordination of application changes and new systems. This position will also coordinate business continuity requirements for applications in its responsibility.

A successful candidate will be managerially sound and be well organized. The candidate should also be technically versatile and highly adaptable to various existing and new applications and technologies. The optimum candidate will be well versed in Trading System technologies and other investment process applications. The applicant will liaison with internal clients and provide technical expertise to the business units. A successful candidate will be able to coordinate project-based tasks as well as handle day-to-day issues escalated from the service desk or support teams. The candidate must be able to coordinate time sensitive project and support responsibilities that are required to support an asset management production environment. Excellent communication skills are required to manage the solution and inform all interested parties during systematic events. This position puts the individual in contact with all areas of the organization.

Position Responsibilities – Detailed

· Supports Investment System Trading and Compliance Applications and their infrastructures

· Ensures, coordinates and expedites successful completion of project development and maintenance activities

· Oversees Application administration functions including user management, security, product implementations and upgrades and application configuration

· Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems pertinent to the Applications in collaboration, if required, with the support teams or third-party vendors.

· Acquires and maintains knowledge base for Investment System Applications

· Coordinates application acceptance testing with the users and support teams

· Document or define Investment System Application operational workflows.

· Coordinates the development and maintenance of application production schedules.

· Applies technical and managerial expertise to improve operational processes.

· Promotes and adheres to development methodologies, standards and best practices.

· Assists in preparing operational analyses and reports.

· Participates in internal audits processes for Investment System Applications

· Liaison with 3rd party product consultants

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Undergraduate degree in technology discipline or equivalent experience

· 5+ years experience in an IT organization with application development experience

· 3-5 years experience in a managerial capacity within IT

· 3+ years experience in the financial services industry

· Broad experience with Microsoft Products requires (C#, .Net, Server 2005, IIS, SharePoint, etc.)

· Experience with CRD, XIP, PACE and FMC Pacer highly desired

· Extensive SQL Server skills required- SQL Server 2005 preferred

· Majority of Investment System applications have Microsoft SQL Server database back-end.

· SQL server standard load mechanisms (Stored procedures, DTS, SSIS,)

· Extensive problem coordination and troubleshooting skills a must.

· Experience with ticketing, tracking and change management systems

· Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational expertise, and attention to detail

· Ability to communicate with internal clients at all enterprise levels

· Flexible/on call to support off hours project and problem issues
