Dr. Katz also announced the appointment of Howard “Tzvi” Friedman, also of Baltimore, as Honorary Chairman of the OU/IPA.
A graduate of Ner Israel Rabbinical College, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard Law School, and Executive Vice President of American Stock Transfer & Trust Company, LLC., Mr. Neuberger resides in Baltimore with his wife, Chani, and their two children.
“Yehuda Neuberger is very active in his community in political institutions,” declared Dr. Katz. “His family has been intimately involved in Jewish life in Baltimore for generations, including nearly seven decades of communal activism and leadership by his grandfather, Rabbi Herman Neuberger.”
OU Executive Vice President Rabbi Steven Weil stated: “Yehuda has an outstanding reputation as a leader of AIPAC and Baltimore’s 'Associated' (Jewish Federation). Yehuda is extremely wise, a great listener, and a person who puts the needs of the community in front of his own needs. He is a pleasure to work and partner with.”
Howard Tzvi Friedman, has been a national leader in the American Jewish community for many years, having served recently as the President of AIPAC and in leading positions at the Jewish Federations of North America, Baltimore’s Associated and many others. Dr. Katz noted that “Yehuda Neuberger and Howard Tzvi Friedman have worked together in important activities in the past on a national and regional basis. I am looking forward to their continued partnering under the auspices of IPA.”
OU/IPA director Nathan Diament stated: “I look forward to working closely with Yehuda and Howard in the OU’s efforts to promote the interests and values of the Orthodox Jewish community in the public policy arena. Foremost among our priorities will be continuing our efforts to support Jewish day schools and synagogues, expanding religious freedom and supporting the security and Jewish character of the State of Israel.”
