RACE ON OVER TO SUPPORT NJ YACHAD, OCTOBER 23
New Jersey Yachad announces an evening of thrills and adventures at its Seventh Annual Game Night, which brings out the community to support Yachad’s work, while at the same time enjoying a fun night out with a special theme. This year’s driving force, “Ready, Set, Go…” is sure to rev your engines with Indoor Go Karting on Saturday night, October 23 at 8:30 p.m. at Velocity-11, located at 87 Route 17 North, Maywood. More than 200 people are expected to attend. This is another in a series of cleverly themed events sponsored to produce support for Yachad and its programs; last year’s theme was “An Out of this World Experience” at Space Odyssey.
Yachad, the flagship program of the Orthodox Union’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities (NJCD), provides unique social, educational and recreational programs for individuals with learning, developmental and physical disabilities.
A raffle open to all -- with grand prizes including tickets to a Broadway show, jewelry, the hottest electronics and more -- gives anyone the chance to bring home a prize. Raffle tickets can also be purchased separately leading up to the event. To additionally test endurance, a Texas Hold-Em challenge will take place at Velocity-11’s Monte Carlo Lounge.
According to Driving Force Committee Member Atara Mauskopf, “Let the year begin as we race to drive funds to benefit the numerous outstanding Yachad programs of Inclusion within the Northern New Jersey communities this year! Most people think of Yachad as simply hosting Shabbatons, but in reality, the organization offers so much more to its members and families, including support groups for members parents, siblings; providing after school and summer programs; training members to enter the workforce; and providing the resources that help to enable these special members of our community to truly feel that they are active and vital members of our community. I hope everyone will join us for a fun-filled evening while supporting a great cause.”
Chani Herrmann, Director of New Jersey Yachad, declared: “New Jersey Yachad supports families who have children with special needs and makes an amazing impact on the Jewish community each day. We bring parents together weekly for support groups, provide counseling for Yachad members and their families, and run countless “Inclusive” programs during the year. Many of our members also join the numerous summer programs that Yachad offers in mainstream summer camps and traveling abroad.”
