OU’s Our Way to Address ‘Parenting of the Deaf,’ 6/16 in Brooklyn
Our Way, the Orthodox Union’s division for Jewish deaf and hard of hearing, will host a special presentation by Rabbi Mordechai Shuchatowitz, a parent of deaf children, in Brooklyn on Sunday, June 16, addressing topics such as “Jewish Law and the Deaf;” “Parenting for Deaf Children;” and “Shidduchim (Dating for Marriage).” The program is geared for parents of deaf children and all others touched by deafness. A sign language interpreter will be available upon request.
The program will begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Yachad DayHab building, 1122 Coney Island Avenue, second floor. Mincha will be held prior to the event, at 7:45 p.m.
Rabbi Shuchatowitz serves as Rav of Agudath Israel of Greenspring in Baltimore. He is the Av Dayan of the Bais Din of Maryland; and the author of Toras HaChersh Part 1, which discusses Jewish law and the deaf.
The program is coordinated by Our Way Director Rabbi Eliezer Lederfeind with the assistance of Chaim Aranowitz and Rabbi Mordechai Taitelbaum, parents of deaf children.
