OU President Stephen J. Savitsky to Visit Brooklyn, March 5-6
The visit will take place the Shabbat weekend of March 5-6. Future visits include Calgary and Montreal, and are part of President Savitsky’s official Presidential Tour of Jewish communities across North America.
Mr. Savitsky will spend the weekend giving a series of talks to the Brooklyn Jewish community.
On Friday night at 9:00 p.m., Mr. Savitsky will participate in a panel discussion at Young Israel of Midwood, with Rabbi Eli Baruch Shulman, of Young Israel of Midwood, Rabbi Dr. Aaron Levine, of Young Israel of Avenue J, and Shlomo Z. Mostofsky, President, National Council of Young Israel. The topic will be, “Orthodox Jewry at the Crossroads- Will We Meet the Challenges?”
On Shabbat, Mr. Savitsky will give the morning drasha (in-depth lecture on the Torah) at the Young Israel of Midwood, on “The Orthodox Union: Touching the Lives of Every Jew.”
He will speak at shalosh seudah (the third Shabbat meal) at the Young Israel of Avenue J following mincha at 5:20 p.m., on “The Torah’s Secret to a Long and Meaningful Life.”
Rabbi Shulman, of Young Israel of Midwood, declared, “We are very pleased to be hosting Mr. Savitsky in our shul. We know that the OU makes great efforts to be a force for achdut (unity) in the Orthodox community, and that is very much in keeping with the spirit of our shul.”
