OU IN LA OCT 14, FOCUS ON TEENS AND INTERNET SAFETY
Bringing national issues to a local scale, The Orthodox Union West Coast Region will be presenting a special evening on Internet safety education on Thursday, October 14. The program, Keeping Our Families Safe, will feature Dr. David Pelcovitz, of Yeshiva University, as the keynote speaker, addressing students of middle and high school age, and their parents on “Talking Tachlis: Tools and Strategies.” FBI Special Agent Marc Botello will also be a featured speaker, discussing “Teens and the Internet.” The program is co-hosted with Yeshiva University High Schools, and will take place at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Tolerance Peltz Theatre, 9786 W. Pico Boulevard.
Declared Rabbi Adir Posy, OU West Coast Assistant Director of Synagogue Services and event coordinator, “It is very gratifying for the OU West Coast Region to be sponsoring this event, as it allows us to be a partner in factual conversations within our community that deal with real issues, and come up with real solutions. This program utilizes our position as communal convener to bring top resources from a national scene, such as Dr. Pelcovitz, as well as our partners in law enforcement, such as Special Agent Botello, who is an expert from the FBI. Programs such as this are facilitated as a response to needs expressed by the community -- by listening and receiving feedback from our member congregations, organizations, and educational institutions -- and we relish our position as an umbrella organization that allows our community to gain from the best resources available.”
