NJ NCSY To Hold Chesed Activities In Conjunction With Winter Regional, 12/4-7
On Friday, December 5, 350 NCSY members from Teaneck, Fairlawn, West Orange, Highland Park, Cherry Hill, and many other communities from across New Jersey will spend the day helping beautify Asbury Park, which is a shadow of its once glorious self. Working at several locations throughout the area, they will pick up trash along the beach and railroad, paint the gym at the local center, landscape, and help out senior citizens.
Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, Regional Director of NJ NCSY, declared, “NCSY is about making Judaism real to Jewish teens. It’s about living the ideals of Torah, and showing how a committed Jewish life makes one a happier and better person. This weekend will be a watershed moment in the lives of many teens as they learn and live what it means to be a Jew.”
“The New Jersey Region of NCSY recently returned from Texas, where they spent time assisting victims of Hurricane Ike, and we plan to go to New Orleans in February to participate in relief work. The activities we plan to hold in Asbury Park are in line with our mission to help other people,” continued Rabbi Glasser.
On Friday night, NCSY members will hear from two special guest speakers, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Rivke Berkowitz, whose plane to the United States was hijacked in 1970 by Palestinian terrorists and rerouted to Jordan. They will speak about what it means to have freedom taken away.
