Brooklyn BP Marty Markowitz to Sponsor OU’s Virtual Job Fair II, Set for August 29
Mr. Markowitz joins Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and Queens Assemblyman Rory Lancman (25th AD), who have already lent the prestige of their offices to attract employers and to publicize the event.
“As we know, Brooklyn is the epicenter of job growth and opportunity in New York City, and I commend the Orthodox Union’s innovative use of technology to unite bright, talented individuals with rewarding jobs and careers through Virtual Job Fair II on August 29,” Borough President Markowitz declared. “To all the candidates and participating employers I wish you a day of success and good fortune!”
The first Job Fair, held in June, was a great success, with 20 people being hired on the spot, and considerably more following further interviews. Along with sponsors such as myresumeexperts.com, IDT Corp. and The Jewish Press, Michael Rosner, Director of the OU Job Board, which presents the Job Fair, is confident that the second Fair will be even more successful than the first. Already, there are more job candidates and employers signed up for the upcoming Fair than for the first one.
In press coverage of Job Fair I, the program has been termed “the new innovative approach to job fairs,” with the OU being called “a visionary in this field.”
On the day of the Fair, job candidates will be interviewed via video conference with HR personnel in their offices. HR professionals who prefer to screen applicants in person will come to the OU and conduct their interviews live.
Like its predecessor, Virtual Job Fair II combines state-of-the-art technology with human resources practices to assist the unemployed and under-employed in the Jewish community in the New York and Tri-State areas in finding meaningful work.
