Beth Jacob Cong of Irvine to Host 3 Scholars-in-Residence, Nov-Dec
The Los Angeles-based Orthodox Union West Coast Region will send three Scholars-In-Residence to its member synagogue Beth Jacob Congregation of Irvine in November and December. Stephen J. Savitsky, OU National President, will address the congregation November 19-20; Rabbi Adir Posy, OU West Coast Assistant Director of Synagogue Services, will be present November 26-27; and Rabbi Daniel Korobkin, OU National Consultant of Synagogue Services, will be the scholar December 24-25. The synagogue is located at 3900 Michelson Drive.
According to Rabbi Alan Kalinsky, Director of the OU West Coast Region, “Under the leadership of Rabbi Yisroel Ciner, Beth Jacob Congregation has experienced tremendous growth in membership and in the opening of a new community mikveh. Irvine has truly become a model out-of-town community that is poised to take-off!”
At the behest of Rabbi Kalinsky, Mr. Savitsky will be visiting Irvine as part of his Presidential Tour of OU communities across North America. Rabbi Posy will be visiting the community as part of his scheduled tours of all OU Synagogues in the West Coast Region. Rabbi Ciner has agreed to visit a Los Angeles-area synagogue as a faculty member of this year’s West Coast 2010 Torah Convention, December 23-25. That same weekend, Rabbi Korobkin will be bringing the Convention to the Irvine synagogue community.
