Join 100,000 Jews in reciting the
Tefillah L'chayalei Tzahal -
The Prayer for Members of the Israeli Defense Forces -
daily and help raise funds to benefit our soldiers in Israel. Order
large cards (8 1/2 inches x 11 inches) for $5 each and
small cards (credit card
sized) for $1 each and be a part of this mitzvah! All
proceeds benefit needy soldiers
and will be distributed by the Office of the Chief Military Chaplain of
the IDF (see Arutz Sheva report below).
As the current crisis
continues, so
does the danger facing the young men and women who risk their lives on the
front lines of battle. The Orthodox Union urges the community to
commence with the daily recitation of this tefillah on their behalf.
Imagine the Kiddush Hashem and the impact that these thousands of voices
can have on behalf of our soldiers. Please order cards for
your synagogue, school, home, or youth group -
for yourself! ORDER YOUR cards NOW! Fax: 212-613-0639 -

As reported in A-7
A
first-time Orthodox Union (OU) program will enhance the observance
of the current High Holiday period for many IDF soldiers from
families in difficult economic circumstances. The OU is providing
them with special gift certificates, underwritten in a unique
manner: the sale of wallet-sized prayer cards. The cards, produced
by the OU (www.ou.org),
feature a full-color photo of soldiers in an emotional embrace at
the Western Wall, with the text in Hebrew or English of the special
Mi Shebeirach prayer for the Israel Defense Forces on the flip side.
Thousands of cards have been purchased at $1 apiece in the United
States, Canada and elsewhere.
"When Howard Rhine conceived the idea late last year of producing
these cards for sale," explained OU President Harvey Blitz, "it
became clear that there was a double opportunity here - both to pray
daily for the welfare of those who are defending Israel and its
people, and at the same time to relieve the financial distress
experienced by many of these soldiers and their families."
IDF Chief Rabbi Brig.-Gen. Yisrael Weiss, during his recent visit
this summer to the United States, told the OU leadership, "The OU's
dual program of educating Diaspora Jews to pray daily for our
soldiers - i.e., the soldiers of the Jewish People - and to
contribute materially to strengthen and encourage many of those same
soldiers, is one more proof that we are a united Nation, and that
unity is our strength. In that strength, we shall truly merit G-d's
blessing." |
