CANCELED - Concert to Benefit Communities Affected by Superstorm Sandy

Thursday, Dec, 06, 2012 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM

The Orthodox Union (OU) and National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) has partnered to present “An Evening Together”–the musical benefit concert on behalf of the communities and synagogues that are still reeling from the aftershocks of Superstorm Sandy.

The concert, which will be held on Thursday, December 6, will feature renowned Jewish music stars Lipa, Elli Kranzler & Sherwood Goffin, with special guest performances by Yosi Piamenta and others.  It  will take place at The Town Hall, which is located at 123 West 43rd Street in Manhattan.  The show, which will begin at 7:30 PM, will be produced by Gershon Veroba and will feature music by the Neshoma Orchestra. Over Shabbat, please use the attached materials to include in the after davening announcements from the pulpit. Additionally, a flyer is attached to be displayed in your synagogues lobby.

“This is a special time,” said Paul Glasser, Senior Director of Institutional Advancement for the Orthodox Union.  “This is a time for partnership and collaboration.  This is a time to do the best we can for those people who are unfortunate victims of this disastrous storm.  When Rabbi Bini Maryles of the National Council of Young Israel called, I discussed it with our president Dr. Simcha Katz and we said that that this is a spectacular opportunity for the public to see that these two synagogue organizations can work together for the benefit of the community.”

Concert tickets range from $36 to $125 and can be purchased online at www.youngisrael.org/concert.  Tickets are also available by phone at 212-929-1525 x120.
