Jerusalem, Israel (January 23, 2002):- On Wednesday afternoon, the Orthodox Union Solidarity Mission met with Israeli President, Moshe Katsav at his residence in Jerusalem.  The 180 participants came from all over the United States in a show of support for the people of Israel.  Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Weinreb, the Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union said, "The one main purpose of the OU Solidarity Mission is to inspire and to motivate the participants to go back to their community and encourage them to support the people of Israel by visiting the land of Israel."


Uzi Landau, Minister of Public Security, briefs the mission on current security issues, including the shooting on Rechov Yaffa on the previous night and Temple Mount security.


President Moshe Katzav is greeted by Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union.

Ora Nechama Krupka, a student of the Shulamith School in Brooklyn, celebrated her own Bat Mitzvah in Israel as part of the OU/RCA mission.  Here she is aided by Menachem Persoff, Director of the Seymour J. Abrams Israel Center, in delivering her message of greetings to the 43 local Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrants in Lod-Ramla.  Ora brought with her presents and letters from her class for each of the Makom BaLev Bnei Mitzvah.
