Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb
KEYNOTE ADDRESS
Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb

A noted Rav, psychologist, and orator, Dr. Weinreb received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School, a Masters degree in psychology from the New School for Social Research, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. Dr. Weinreb served as assistant supervisor of psychological services for the Prince George’s County Public  Schools, chief psychologist of the Potomac Foundation for Mental Health, and maintained a private practice of psychotherapy. Rabbi Dr. Weinreb is the newly appointed Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union who was spiritual leader of Congregation Shomrei Emunah of Baltimore, Maryland,  for the past thirteen years.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP PRESENTERS

Mansour Banilivy, Ph.D.
Dr. Banilivy is a developmental and clinical psychologist, director of the Family Wellness Center who received his post-doctoral fellowship training in child and family therapy at the Harvard Medical School. He has been a practicing and training psychologist for the past 20 years. Dr. Banilivy has spoken extensively on topics of child and adolescent development, parenting, cross cultural issues, eating disorders and the impact of media, in particular television, on family life.

Norman Blumenthal, Ph.D.
Dr. Norman Blumenthal is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Hewlett, New York, specializing in adolescent and group therapy. Dr. Blumenthal is the coordinator of group psychotherapy training for psychiatric residents and psychology interns at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He received his MA and Doctorate from Adelphi University.

Susan Buchweitz, M.S.W.
Susan Buchweitz is clinical director of the Birchwood School, a special education school in the Clarkstown school district. Mrs. Buchweitz received her Masters in social work from Columbia University, and Post Masters from Hunter and New Paltz in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and school administration. She maintains a private practice in Rockland County specializing in children, teenagers, and family issues. Mrs. Buchweitz has published many articles, and has presented at conferences throughout the country. 

Rochelle Harary, M.S. 
Rochelle Harary is a licensed school psychologist and play therapist with advanced training in cognitive and projective assessment. She maintains a private practice in New York City and conducts extensive hands-on workshops through-out the Greater New York area. 

Joshua Lamm, M.D. 
Dr. Lamm is a Board Certified psychiatrist who is the Medical Director of the Yatzkan Center, an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center for Jewish teenagers. Dr. Lamm graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1983. He served as the Unit Chief of the Behavioral Disorders Unit at Holliswood Hospital, specializing in eating disorders and disassociative disorders. Dr. Lamm has a private practice in Queens and Manhattan since 1987.
 

Rona Novick, Ph.D.
Dr. Novick is Senior Psychologist in the division of Adolescent Psychiatry at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, and is a member of the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She also is in pri-vate practice on Long Island.

Rabbi David Kaminetsky
Rabbi David Kaminetsky is the National Director of National Conference of Synagogue Youth (N.C.SY.). Rabbi Kaminetsky has spent the past eighteen years as principal of Manhattan Day School, and previously served as principal of Moriah School of Englewood, New Jersey. Rabbi Kaminetsky  was involved with Camp Magen Avraham for three decades, the past 21 years of which he served as Executive Director.
 

Rachel Pill, C.S.W.
Rachel Pill is a clinical social worker with a private practice in Cedarhurst, Long Island. She is a graduate of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, and for the past decade has taught and worked with families and individuals in the Jewish community. Ms. Pill is an adjunct professor at RIETS and co-founder of the Long Island Guidance and Wellness Center. 

Kathy Rosenthal, C.S.W.
In her position as Assistant Vice President of Program Services at F.E.G.S. Long Island Division, Ms. Rosenthal oversees program development, outreach, public relations and community and professional education initiatives. She supervises staff engaged in education and prevention services within Long Island’s Jewish community. Ms. Rosenthal has presented at many conferences and represents the Division on community coalitions.

Ira M. Sacker, M.D.
Dr. Sacker is founder and director of H.E.E.D. (Helping to End Eating Disorders Foundation) in Nassau County, Manhattan and Brooklyn. He is the author of the best selling book, Dying to Be Thin, a Warner Book publication. He is a member of the International Panel of Eating Disorders and has appeared on Oprah, Good Morning America, CNN, 20/20, and 48 Hours. A graduate of U.C.L.A. Medical School with a residency at NYU, Dr. Sacker was the Chief Resident of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at  NYU. He is currently director of Adolescent and Adult Medicine at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. He is an interna-tional expert in the field of eating disorders for 30 years. 

Leah Topek
Ms. Topek brings an important youth perspective to the program as she joins together with Kathy Rosenthal in a work-shop on Instilling Values. Leah has taught Jewish culture and values to children and has co-led discussion groups for adolescents on Jewish traditions and values. 

Merrill Weiner, A.C.S.W.
Ms. Weiner is Clinical Director, ADHD Program, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, North Shore University Hospital. A frequent workshop presenter to both professional and parent groups regarding parent training, child management techniques, and classroom interventions and strategies, Ms. Weiner works with children, adolescents, and families. A New York State Certified Social Worker, Ms. Weiner received her BA in psychology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and her M.S.W. from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. Ms. Weiner maintains a private practice in Merrick, NY.
