Fair Lawn, NJ – http://www.shomrei-torah.org/
Over the last several years, the Shomrei Torah Fair Lawn community has expanded with the addition of many young couples and families, who are both renting and buying houses, and calling Fair Lawn ‘home’. Shomrei Torah and Fair Lawn is established: Having an active membership of approximately 300 families, Shomrei Torah provides the full infrastructure that young families need, including Shabbas groups, a top nursery school, a mikveh, and established and respected leadership, led by Rabbi Benjamin Yudin and Rabbi Andrew Markowitz. With a vibrant Young Couple’s Shabbas minyan, new families are moving in all the time. Visit for a Shabbas, hang around the kiddush, and re-connect with all the people you didn’t realize moved to Fair Lawn. Just remember where you parked your child’s stroller, as there are a lot of them! Shomrei Torah is big enough to hold 5 different Shabbas morning minyanim, but small enough to be a place where you can know nearly everybody and build close bonds with people both in your age group and outside of it.
Fair Lawn is affordable, accessible (Express trains and buses allow for a quick and easy commute to all parts of Manhattan, and the 20 minute drive to NYC allows parents to sneak off for a night on the town) and child-friendly: A centrally located Shabbas park (that hosts regular Shomrei Torah events) makes for weekly Shabbas playdates on demand. There is a town pool with a great kiddie-area where you will find our youngest members on hot summer days, and a town Recreation Center that hosts youth athletics and cultural programs. Just a few minutes from many Yeshiva Day Schools, Fair Lawn allows for easy busing or car-pooling when it’s time to get back to the books.
New families receive discounted membership that includes credit which can be used for shul events as well as discounted nursery school rates.
