The OU Department of Synagogue Services has created a video as part of a compendium of the laws of Mechirat Chametz. The tape includes two parts. The first part is a formal shiur given by Harav Mordechai Willig Shlit''a, a Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivat Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchonon of Yeshiva University, Sgan Av Beth Din of the Beth Din of America and the Morah D'asrah of the Young Israel of Riverdale. In the Shiur Rav Willig discusses many of the unique intricacies of this noteworthy transaction. The second part of the tape depicts Rabbi Willig walking the viewer through the actual process of a Mechirat Chametz. You will also find copies of the forms Rabbi Willig uses for both stages of his community's Mechira. This important video has been sent as a gift from the Orthodox Union Department of Synagogue Services to the Rabbonim of all our member congregations. The contents of the video are geared toward Rabbis, but are presented clearly enough for you to use them with your congregants - particularly the second segment depicting an actual Mechirat Chametz.
