Hi there!
Everybody looks for the magic recipe that would alter the future course of their shul. We look towards membership campaigns, program boosts, youth focused meetings, etc. All of those have their time and their place but there does seem to be one overarching system that is a part of any healthy shul looking to grow. I certainly did not make it up as so many of us consciously or subconsciously do it but I would like to give it a name: The Synagogue Success Formula.
1) Focus on an outcome (aka mission, theme, idea, result)
2) Know why that is your outcome
3) Commit to taking massive action towards that outcome
4) After some time reassess weather the actions taken are productively achieving that goal.
5) Change your approach
This formula doesn’t solve all of the world’s problems but it’s a helpful skeleton by which to tackle some of your synagogue’s challenges.
See you around,
