Hi there! I hope that you are all well.
We talk a lot about administration and leadership; why not take a cue from our Torah how to do that properly?
Shemos 18:21-23
21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear G-d, men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
22 And let them judge the people at all seasons; and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge themselves; so shall they make it easier for thee and bear the burden with thee.
23 If thou shalt do this thing, and G-d command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people also shall go to their place in peace.’
Here are some interesting leadership lessons that emerge from the above mentioned verses:
• Hashem appoints leaders.
• Hashem expects those leaders to function effectively.
• No leader can do the entire job alone.
• Leaders who try to do the job alone burn out.
• Hashem often sends advisors ready to assist us.
• By delegating portions of the job, the leader can focus on primary issues.
• Delegation doesn’t relieve a leader from responsibility.
• Individuals who are delegated tasks must be qualified to do the job.
Any other tips I’m missing from these pesukim?
